The Analyst - Edge Analytics will play a critical role in supporting strategy development and the execution of online marketing campaigns to all stakeholders within eCommerce through effective analytics. The Team Member will support the Manager of EDGE Analytics, eCommerce Managers and Directors by researching, reporting, and analyzing digital performance metrics and broader hotel performance data, by refining and supporting enterprise reporting output and platforms, and through the development and implementation of advanced tagging practices.

What will I be doing?


The Analyst - EDGE Analytics will require strategic analysis at the local, regional, national, brand and competitive levels with knowledge of both hotel level and digital distribution methods to inform data-driven budgeting and marketing decisions. The Team Member will support stakeholders with ad-hoc and regularly distributed analytics focused on uncovering trends in sales, site traffic, and customer behavior with a root goal of helping eCommerce make informed decisions to drive additional revenues through the Hilton brand website.


 


Other key priorities are listed below:

  • Interpret data and provide insights based on performance metrics on a daily basis

  • Develop advanced user knowledge of the enterprise business intelligence platforms and processes

  • Regularly interact with eCommerce personnel to understand program objectives; synthesize business questions into data requests and deliver actionable insights against them

  • Possess an analytical mind-set; have a comprehensive understanding of data principles, including measurements of best practices, tagging and reporting standards, metric definitions, quality assurance and data validation practices, and mathematical concepts

  • Have at least a basic level of understanding of online advertising operations and concepts, including paid search and display media

  • Knowledge of the Hospitality business is a plus

  • Develop clear, professional views of data that is appropriate for use in presentations, as well as reporting templates suitable for distribution to business stakeholders

  • Gather and mine data from all relevant sources including Team Members, agencies, Webtrends, Adobe web analytics, Compete and comScore, proprietary data sources, web-based applications and surveys

  • Shepherd the development and maintenance of all required (client, financial, department) data sources for accuracy and integrity through an intimate knowledge of the data

  • Provide competitive insights relating to online selling strategies and market trends through third-party data and Internet research

  • Analyze data identifying trends and patterns and perform variance analysis on key metrics

  • Monitor and identify emerging trends in property KPIs, alerting eCommerce Managers and providing recommendations and insights on reversal of negative trends

  • Create and/or maintain relevant models for analyzing data

  • Create mathematical or statistical diagrams and charts for analyzing data

  • Forecast and/or predict website and/or hotel-level online performance based upon trends, research and analysis

  • Perform data validation and Quality Assurance on stakeholder reporting

  • Develop and maintain the records management program for filing, protecting, and retrieval of records, and assure compliance with the program

  • Use all required company systems to enter data and/or process information

  • Write analytical and informational reports for all levels of the eCommerce organization and key external stakeholders using applicable Hilton Worldwide systems and templates

  • Generate reports for distribution to the Manager of EDGE Analytics, the Director of eCommerce Services, the SEO Director, and the Senior Managers and Managers of eCommerce

  • Report results to Digital Analytics and eCommerce leadership and other stakeholders

  • Regularly interact with eCommerce Managers to educate them on report usage, respond to data inquiries, and develop ad-hoc analyses to further understand the drivers behind the data

  • Develop powerful and engaging data visualizations (data tables, charts and info-graphics) including insights and analysis in PowerPoint presentations for senior management and stakeholders

  • Examine the needs and concerns of eCommerce leadership to determine opportunities or problem areas and provide feedback in the development of policies, procedures, methods and/or standards

  • Communicate with eCommerce leads providing them information relevant to the business need

  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with corporate Team Members and eCommerce

  • Collaborate with the Manager of EDGE Analytics and eCommerce Team Members to establish specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish project and department goals

  • Attend internal and external meetings and address topics of analysis

  • Research and respond to information requests from internal departments, external departments, hotels and management  

  • Answer Team Member questions on eCommerce hotel analytics tracking methodology as it pertains to online retailing in a friendly and courteous manner

  • Provide training to other Team Members and staff on web analytics, eCommerce theory, and eCommerce analytics best practice and tools

  • Develop and process ad-hoc reports 

  • Perform additional tasks related to eCommerce campaign management as requested

  • High School Degree/GED

  • A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience

  • A minimum of one (1) year of Online Marketing experience working with analytics, reporting, and user feedback

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience developing queries and working with data sets in SQL and Access

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • BA/BS Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Finance or Hospitality Management

  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of Analytical experience within Revenue Management, Data Management, and/or a B2C Online Distribution environment

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Analytics role in Online Marketing, working with analytics, reporting, and user feedback

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with MicroStrategy and web analytics platforms like Omniture or Webtrends

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with SQL
