What will I be doing?

As a Counter Person On-Call you would be responsible for preparing and serving all soda fountain items, including sandwiches and snacks in a friendly and courteous manner at the Pronto Pickle Outlet. Accurately collecting payment, making change and closing out guest checks totaling food and beverage purchases. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Serving food and beverages to customers in a prompt, friendly manner, observing health and safety standards in the operation of all beverage and food equipment.  Refilling bowls, arranging food plates and assembling sandwiches and salads as necessary.
  • Receiving order from customer, inputting order/prices into the register, then closing the check to the proper method of payment, (i.e., cash or house charge.)  Relaying order to steward/cook as required.
  • Setting up and breaking down station, performing various cleaning tasks throughout the shift to meet all health regulations and standards.  At the end of shift, returning all unused food to proper departments or storage areas, ensuring that all foods have been properly stored. Ensuring that all equipment, are properly cleaned and stored, including, but not limited to, coffee machines, slush machines, and drink dispensers.
  • Balancing house bank at the end of the shift.  Retrieving and returning bank from vault to workstation and return, to ensure accountability. 
  • Maintaining inventory of food and supplies and communicates requests daily through written communication to ensure adequate food and beverage supplies,.  Performing daily rotation of stock and putting away any received food, beverage, and paper supplies.  Notifying proper departments of any equipment needs and/or problems.

     



What are we looking for?


EDUCATION
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.



EXPERIENCE
Previous cash handling experience required. Prior hospitality, accounting, or food preparation experience preferred.



LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Ability to obtain Tuberculosis Clearance Certificate. Ability to obtain Honolulu Liquor Commission yellow card. CPR Certification and/or First Aid Training preferred.



OTHER
Ability to speak another language in addition to English is preferred, with Japanese being the most desirable. Must have flexible availability. 


 


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing.
  • Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations, such as inaccurate check total.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus and special promotions, and communicate with guests.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and Point of Sale procedures to handle cashier functions.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces.
  • Ability to push/pull and transport items weighing up to 200 lbs., with wheeled assistance.
  • Ability to work within extreme temperature conditions.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand to use all counter equipment and utensils (i.e., spoons, ladle...)
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal direct supervision, within initial training period after employee begins work.
