About this job
Reporting directly to the Facilities Supervisor, this position maintains grounds and facilities as assigned by cleaning, mowing, trimming, weeding, sweeping, trash collecting, code green processing and snow/ice control. This position also performs minor repairs of grounds and equipment. The incumbent for this position is responsible for the safe and efficient use of department equipment and for minor maintenance of equipment
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS :
* Must be able to operate mower, trimmers, snow blowers, vacuums, power washers, and all gardening tools to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility's property.
* Performs routine cleaning, project cleaning (mopping, spot cleaning, signage/light fixtures/vents, etc), minor repairs, snow removal, scrap removal, and preventive maintenance.
* Assist facilities in demolition, concrete, asphalt and other construction projects.
* Responsible for the proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of department equipment.
* Performs all landscaping duties (e.g., pruning, irrigation, raking, planting, weeding, etc.).
* Assist in the movement of office equipment and furniture & event set-ups when required.
* Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies in a professional and ethical manner.
* Ability to learn and comply with the laws and regulations affecting the casino industry.
* Excellent customer and employee relations skills
* Verbal communications skills.
* Valid Driver's license
* Ability to operate company equipment and vehicles
Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* Requires at least 2 years of experience in the field or related area.
* High school diploma or equivalency certificate is required
QUALIFICATIONS:
* General knowledge of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers used in landscaping and turf systems
* General knowledge of automatic sprinkler systems
* Must be able to operate mower, trimmers, snow blowers, vacuums, power washers, and all gardening tools.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
* Must be able to work with both, a team mentality and professional attitude.
* Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and/or entire shift.
* Able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items as necessary.
* Able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling guests' demands in a fast pace environment.
* Mobility and dexterity to move and carry large heavy objects weighting 50 pounds or more.
* Must be able to bend, pull and carry, reach above and below the shoulder while working, repairing, cleaning, etc.
Must be able to see small objects in poorly lit areas. Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions as well as indoors. Ability to operate various ground machinery effectively and safely along with general knowledge of chemical usage and MSDS information. Must have the dexterity to grip and work necessary items (hand tools, weed eater, shovel, rake, paint brush, nails, computers, etc.). * Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
* Must be able to maneuver around casino/office areas, effectively work in high traffic areas and responds to visual and aural cues.
