Distribution and Logistics Manager

Our client has an immediate opening for an experienced full-time Distribution and Logistics Manager in Medley, FL. Candidate must be professional, a self-starter, able to multi-task, be very organized and detail oriented. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Six Sigma and proficiency with computers is a must.

As a full-time Distribution and Logistics Manager, you will be responsible and expected to achieve and execute the following tasks, but not limited to the following:

  1. Develop an efficient operating and cost-effective distribution network and alliance with suppliers, retail stores, and customers.


  1. Develop and execute effective distribution strategies to streamline the logistics flow of orders and products from sourcing to end-consumers.


  1. Develop new and effective policy and procedures for the distribution department.


  1. Create an effective workflow within the warehouse storage, picking line, and staging and customs bonded and retail storage areas.


  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of warehouse, including freight, returns, receiving, parcels and transfers.


  1. Manage the receiving process from initial receipt to put away to insure the timely, accurate, and damage-free receipt of inbound product shipments.


  1. Manage the shipping process from order receipt to packing to insure the timely, accurate, and damage-free shipment of orders.


  1. Manage the International shipping process to ensure adherence to established procedures along with the use of appropriate packaging, materials, and documentation to comply with U.S. export control laws.


  1. Manage the U.S. Custom Bonded receiving and shipping process to insure adherence to U.S. Customs established policy and procedures to process and transfer shipments.


  1. Manage the inter-transfer process between retail stores to ensure timely scheduling of shipments and appropriate inventory balance between stores within budgetary constraints.


  1. Manage the returns process to effectively inspect and categorize returns, and to make appropriate restocking decisions.


  1. Establish warehouse productivity, quality, service and safety standards; measures performance and compliance to advance the objectives of the organization and support sustainable, profitable growth.


  1. Manage and monitors distribution reporting activities i.e. open orders, cancel orders, return orders, inventory, turnover of inventory, inventory fulfillment, cycle counts, damages, freight and etc.


  1. Ensure inventory accuracy by designing and implementing an effective inventory cycle count program.


  1. Identifies, recommends, and implements programs or process changes that will enhance operations and increase productivity in the distribution department.


  1. Make decisions related to allocation of warehouse resources based upon workload between receiving and shipping to maximize customer service levels and accomplish operational goals.


  1. Ensure that bin locations are properly setup, labeled and positioned to maximize the efficient flow of put-away and picking operations.


  1. Communicates, models, and enforces standards of quality and productivity.


  1. Manages the work of the warehouse support staff to make certain network support needs are met and distribution reports are timely and accurate.


  1. Ensures that each department employee receives the training necessary to be a productive, knowledgeable, and a safe employee. Provides regular instruction on safe use of equipment and processes.


  1. Manage suppliers and freight forwarder relations and negotiate applicable distribution terms in the best interest of the company.


  1. Work closely and effectively with other departments such as accounting/finance, operations, marketing, and purchasing and sales.


  1. Ability to work well under deadline pressure and prioritize work duties.


  1. Help with other functions (Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse) and projects as necessary.


  1. Maintain inventory integrity with the highest standard.


  1. Manage and monitor distribution reporting activities i.e. open orders, cancel orders, returns, damages, inventory, inventory turnover, lead-time fulfillment, cycle counts, freight and etc.


  1. Maintain the overall cleanliness and order of warehouse and retail storage areas at all times.


  1. Maintain and enforce a safe working environment.


  1. Keep equipment operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.


Supervisor Responsibilities

  1. Supervises the work of the employees in the Warehouse. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluations of the distribution department. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance rewarding and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from an accredited four-year college or University in management, logistics, distribution or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in retail distribution, logistics (Domestic and International), or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and proficiency with computer programs and desktop Window based applications.
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with U.S. Customs
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Possesses a “Can-Do” attitude
  • Multi-task oriented
  • High attention to detail in all job functions
  • Valid Drivers License
