An Assistant Director of Finance - Controller with Hilton Hotels and Resorts is responsible for supervising and overseeing the operation of the Finance department, with specific responsibility for Night Audit, F&B Income Audit, Accounts Receivable, Master Accounts and Daily Report sections. Assists with month-end closing and general ledger reconciliations. Responsible for the Finance department in the absence of the Director of Finance.

What will I be doing?


An Assistant Director of Finance - Controller with Hilton Hotels and Resorts is responsible for supervising and overseeing the operation of the Finance department, with specific responsibility for Night Audit, F&B Income Audit, Accounts Receivable, Master Accounts and Daily Report sections. Assists with month-end closing and general ledger reconciliations. Responsible for the Finance department in the absence of the Director of Finance. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Supervises Guest Accounting staff, assigning tasks and giving guidance as needed. Supervises staff in compiling month-end closing reports.

  • Prepares monthly forecast and oversees preparation of variance reports and reviews for accuracy.

  • Establishes written procedures affecting Guest Accounting, Food & Beverage and/or Front Office.

  • Assists Director of Finance with projects as assigned.

  • Interviews applicants and provides recommendations for hiring. Insures Guest Accounting staff are properly trained, including scheduling of work load and flows.

  • Responsible for Shift 4 ($ in the Bank) operations and computer systems

  • Assists Hotel's Front Office management staff in interfacing Front Office (HPMS I) and Back Office computer systems.

  • Assists Hotel's Food & Beverage management staff in interfacing Food & Beverage POS (MICROS) and Back Office computer systems.



What are we looking for?


EDUCATION
Any combination of education or experience equivalent that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Four-year college degree in Hospitality Management or Accounting with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting or Business Management required.



EXPERIENCE
3 - 5 years experience in a hotel accounting environment required, preferably in a unionized hotel. Interpretation of union labor contract preferred.



LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred.



GROOMING
All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).



OTHER
Ability to speak another language in addition to English is preferred, with Japanese being the most desirable.


 


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Strong working knowledge of Hospitality accounting systems.
  • Ability to effectively manage a large staff and delegate responsibilities.
  • Ability to deal with customers and employees, some of whom require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare accurate financial reports, to analyze complex financial reports and to make sound judgements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to operate 10-key by touch rapidly and accurately.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry a maximum of 20 lbs.
