Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort

Security Officer is responsible for: insuring a safe environment for IHR guests and associates; patrolling; documenting; reporting; and following-up on safety and security hazards or infractions. This individual may also be required to carry out more general guest service tasks, such as delivering items to guests rooms. A Security officer must demonstrate the ability to remain calm in emergencies, and balance excellent guest and associate relations skills with safety and security.

JOB TITLE: Security Guard (Part-Time)

REPORTS TO: Director of Rooms

BASIC PURPOSE: Search for, respond to and handle any security problems, issues, concerns and disaster emergency situations in accordance with all policies, procedures and regulations to ensure the safety & security of the hotel's assets, guests, and employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Patrol all areas of the hotel property including outside parking lots.  Note, search for, handle and report any unusual circumstances, safety violations, car theft, destruction and/or suspicious or undesirable persons and escort off property, if necessary. (50%)

2.Document a concise security report on a daily log including incidents of theft, accidents and safety violations. (10%)

3.Complete the necessary security forms to document losses of property or personal injury to guest or employee. (10%)

4.Maintain familiarity of all hotel disaster and emergency policies, procedures and regulations; respond immediately to emergency alarms or calls for help, determine course of action, notify appropriate authorities and perform first aid and CPR as needed. (10%)

5.Conduct investigations of security incidents. (10%)

6.Enforce the `No Solicitation Policy' of the hotel (2.5%)

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain security of hotel key system; issue and receive keys. (2.5%)

2. Escort and witness cash handling as needed. (2.5%)

3. Assist in shipping and receiving operations. (2.5%)

Knowledge and Skills:

Education:High School education or equivalent experience.

Experience:Minimum two years prior experience in loss prevention.

Skills and Abilities:Current CPR and First Aid certification; Good communication skills; TIPS Training; Ability to recognize drug and alcohol abuse.  Ability to communicate through a portable radio.  May require a second language.
