Description

Transport Driver

The Transport Driver is responsible for providing unfailing support to Sales and Operations by assuring that the Distribution Centers always have the merchandise to support the Company’s ability to meet or exceed our customers’ needs.

Shift and Schedule

This is a unionized facility shifts and assignments are based on seniority as well as the business needs.

This is a full time permanent position working on 1st or 2nd shift based on seniority and the business needs. 1st shift hours are from 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday. 2nd shift typically begins at 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. The shift duration will depend on the scheduled trip for that day. Must be open to overtime and weekends as needed. This Transport Driver can expect to work between 45 and 55 hours per week.

Pay Rate

The pay rate for this position is $0.35 per mile and $10.60 per drop/hook. The average pay will be between $800 and $1000 per week based on scheduled trips.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Haul 48' and 53' trailers from Louisville, KY primarily to Indianapolis, IN and Champaign, IL. The delivery destination may change based on business needs.
  2. Back and pull trailers from the docks and various areas located within the plant grounds as needed.
  3. Perform routine daily pre trip vehicle inspections and address any concerns immediately.
  4. Maintain DOT time log and other required transport documentation.
  5. Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  6. Maintain immediate and open communication regarding road hazards.
  7. Perform miscellaneous work as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • 21 years of age or older
  • 2 years delivery and face to face customer interaction experience
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL class A) and driver’s license
