This position within the Risk Management team is part of Discover Banks Know Your Customer/Enhanced Due Diligence (KYC/EDD) Team. The role is responsible for developing robust Customer Due Diligence CDD profiles for Discover Bank customers by procuring and analyzing customer data. This individual must possess a strong knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and the USA PATRIOT Act as well as a thorough understanding of other regulatory laws, rules, and guidance pertaining to AML/KYC and OFAC or other Sanctions. This individual must demonstrate integrity, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an environment with strict deadlines, possess excellent attention to detail, exemplary writing skills, and the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality with highly sensitive information.Individuals in this role are responsible for:Validating customer risk scores derived from the Banks manual and automated risk scoring solutionsDeveloping comprehensive CDD and Risk profiles by applying investigative and analytical techniquesInteracting with Bank personnel and Bank customers to solicit information essential to the risk rating processWriting robust narratives that clearly identify CDD, risk attributes, risk mitigants, and comprehensive understanding of the customers business models/source of wealthIdentifying and escalating clients to appropriate investigative units when analysis uncovers unresolvable risk concerns and/or potential suspicious activityEscalating recommendations for customer closure when significant reputational and/or AML/Sanctions risks are identifiedDemonstrating an in-depth understanding of banking, AML risks and OFAC Sanctions risks across all products, services, customers, and geographies serviced by the Banks business unitsProactively applying risk management measures to prevent losses as well as prevent reputational riskMaintaining strong knowledge of related regulations, regulatory laws, rules, and guidance as well as internal Policies & ProceduresServing as a back-up for conducting data quality reviews of CDD profiles for completeness, including ensuring all appropriate information is contained in the CDD profile to meet regulatory, legal, bank and audit requirements.Interacting with various levels of Management, exempt and non-exempt employees to clarify requirements and collaborate on process improvementsDeveloping working relationships with key business partners across the firmAssisting with special projects as assigned

Qualifications

*Must have previous Investigations experience
*Excellent communication skills- written and verbal
*Strong analytical skills
*Excellent interpersonal skills
*Previous KYC experience preferred
*Previous financial services background or knowledge of high risk industries
