Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center was founded in 1986 and is located within the city of Portsmouth, Virginia. This site is centrally located, providing excellent opportunities for community activities and involvement. This facility provides focused intermediate and long-term care to children and adolescents manifesting psychiatric and behavioral health disorders with a significant impairment of social, interpersonal, educational or vocational functioning that requires the provision of inter-disciplinary treatment interventions. We are accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center currently has a PRN COOK position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for preparing healthy and appealing food items as required for residents, staff, and guests. Prepares food items as posted on weekly menu and for special functions or as required to accommodate residents, staff and guests. Ensures department sanitation. Maintains compliance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
The ideal candidate must possess knowledge of basic food science, basic math, the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions, ability to estimate food requirements and the ability to disassemble, assemble, operate and clean food service equipment ability to interact with all people. An individual must be able to perform each Essential Function of the job satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities, who are otherwise qualified, to perform the essential functions. High school education or equivalent preferred, or combination of experience, skills and education. Two or more years of institutional or restaurant cooking experience required. Experience with ordering a plus Must possess valid Food Handlers Card.
