The Finance Business Manager is a key member of the state leadership team who brings the experience and business acumen to identify and assess the financial impact of operations. As the lead finance manager in Maryland, this role is responsible for managing P&L with operational leadership for select business units with annual revenue of $30M. The Business Manager leads the annual budget and quarterly forecast process engaging operational leadership to understand and own their financial commitments. As a partner to state operational leadership this individual prepares business analysis and financial models to support new business opportunities and cost improvement initiatives. Essential to success is having the experience and ability to collaborate with operational leadership and finance leadership to identify areas for revenue growth and margin improvement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Analyze financial data and make recommendations based on analyses to the business units.
Serve as the finance business partner to operations managers and organizational leadership.
Provide a variety of complex financial data and maintains and updates company financial models and plans.
Analyze and prepare analysis of business unit and program financial performance. Use professional financial concepts to achieve company objectives, and address complex business issues, in imaginative and practical ways. Implement growth in accordance with company goals, philosophies and values.
Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial statements.
Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
Prepare and update budget and forecasts for business units.
Oversee the preparation of internal and external financial reports, and the year-end audit schedule package, including cost reports required by regulatory agencies.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and code of conduct requirements.
Assist in developing short and long-term plans that are consistent with MENTOR’s financial objectives, strategic initiatives and values.
Assist in analysis of acquisitions and new business opportunities.
Oversee AR for the business unit and coordinate with Shared Services Center (SSC) where applicable.
Oversee GL for the business unit and coordinate with SSC where applicable.
Direct and supervise assigned staff including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Make recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolve employee problems within position responsibilities.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
7-10 years’ experience in accounting/financial management
Demonstrated strength with financial analysis and budgeting
Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously; strong organizational skills
Experience with external reporting, cost reporting, and working with External Auditors
Specific experience in Human Services/Social Services or Medicaid reimbursement preferred
Strong leadership abilities with previous management experience required
Knowledge of Hyperion and Oracle; broad knowledge of financial applications a must
