We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team at Central Texas Rehab Hospital in Austin, TX!

The Occupational Therapist (OT) coordinates the occupational therapy care for a patient population of primarily adolescent, adult and geriatric persons who are acutely ill and have medically complex needs, which result in mobility and activities of daily living deficits.

The Occupational Therapist is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team and expected to accurately assesses patients' needs; identifies and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions; provides patient and family teaching; works in collaborative association with the interdisciplinary team to provide timely, safe and cost effective treatment to achieve the optimal functional outcome. These functions are carried out according to hospital policy and mission statement, Performance Improvement plan and philosophy of the Physical medicine and Rehab Department.

The Occupational Therapist participates in performance improvement and program development activities.

Knowledge and Ability

The Occupational Therapist, plans for meeting patient needs, demonstrates good clinical judgment and is competent in occupational therapy practice.

Education/Experience

The Occupational Therapist is a graduate of a School of Occupational Therapy with current licensure in the state where the hospital is located as an Occupational Therapist. One year of experience in the care of patients in an acute hospital setting is required. Current BLS required.

Physical Requirements

Good general health and stress coping ability. Full mobility and ability to participate in normal activity. Demonstrates ability to speak and hear to communicate with patients, physicians, hospital personnel and the public. Near vision acuity for accurate reading and ability to inspect and analyze work. Able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds. Able to bend, stoop and stretch with minimal physical limitation.

OSHA Task Category

The normal procedure involves potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Universal Precautions with patients should be adhered to in the unlikely event of accidental exposure with ready access to first aid. Protective devices should be worn by the employee when performing tasks that may cause exposure.
