SUMMARY:

Responsible for prompt, efficient and accurate performance of routine and special procedures. Maintains an accurate and updated procedure manual. Keeps abreast of CAP, JCAHO, DHEC, and OSHA requirements.

Minimum Education: Some college or vocational training required. Associate degree or professional training preferred.

Minimum Experience: 2 to 5 years of job-related experience required. 5 years of job-related experience preferred. Experience should include preparation and performance of routine and special histologic procedures. Experience with instruments, quality control, and the update of all procedure manuals, including CAP, JCAHO, DHEC, and OSHA requirements.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: HT ASCP certification preferred. MT /MLT with ASCP and job related experience acceptable. Current non-certified Histotechnologist, who are employed by Piedmont Medical Center, are encouraged to acquire certification.
