Surgical Care Tech- Operating Room

FTE: .40 PTR (16hrs/week; eligible for part-time benefits)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides basic nursing care and non-technical services for the personal and comfort needs of the patient. Performs work of routine difficulty in a variety of cleaning tasks that involve use of hazardous chemicals, heavy lifting in patient rooms, and in the operating rooms (and other surgical areas) of the hospital. Operates floor machines in surgical areas when necessary. Surgery, performs clerical duties, assists with scheduling, compiles statistics, facilitates surgery schedule, places patient charges, secretarial duties, tissue tracking log, and implant log record. Other tasks include, but are not limited to the following; the initiation of clinical, technical, janitorial and logistic support in all services related to the delivery of anesthetic care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Environmental Services training in a patient setting preferred. High school graduate or equivalent. Will receive on-the-job training in specific job duties and competencies. Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES SKILLS

Must have appropriate relevant knowledge of Environmental Service duties and responsibilities. Must be able to accept, demonstrate, and perform new responsibilities assigned. Must be able to exhibit tact, good judgment, honesty, and a high sense of responsibility when dealing with guests and peers. . Must be familiar with policies and procedures relevant to job. Typing and computer skills preferred. Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions. Must have interpersonal Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instruction. Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients and staff. Must be able to set priorities and react rationally to situations in patient care settings.

LICENSES, REGISTRATION CERTIFICATION: CPR required.
