About this job

Provides a secure and safe environment that allows patients, visitors, physicians, personnel and volunteers to deliver or receive quality services with minimal threats against their personal well-being and property.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be in possession of a current California Security Officer Guard Card (or temporary work guard card permit) pending clearance from the State Bureau of Collection and Investigative Services.

Experience: A military, security (preferably in a hospital setting) or law enforcement background is preferable.

Knowledge:

Security Officer shall possess an understanding of the usual duty requirements of a Security Officer.

Emphasis shall be placed on the physical and emotional maturity required for the high degree of judgment and diplomacy necessary to work efficiently in a healthcare environment.

Ability to write incident reports and read business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Special Skills:

Be physically fit and capable of performing required duties.

Personnel shall be capable of climbing multiple flights of stairs.

Personnel are frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.

The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tool or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
