Cycling Route Manager
Wash Cycle Laundry

Overview

Cycling Route Managers are the key employees who service, retain, and grow our relationships with business, institutional, and government clients. Combining elements of operational responsibility and elements of sales responsibility, they are the critical link between our clients and our operations, ensuring that normal operations go smoothly, urgent requests are handled quickly, and that problems are dealt with effectively. They are also some of the only "generalists" in the organization, who will develop a set of skills for relationship-based sales in addition to a solid foundation in operations.

Cycling Route Managers will report to the Director of Delivery Operations. Operationally, Route Managers are "internal customers" of the laundry team and fleet maintenance team. They will also collaborate closely with Wash Cycle Laundry's Director of Marketing, who will design the "outbound" campaigns (such as direct mail, emails, and social media) to attract new clients to each Route Manager's route. Cycling Route Managers will typically be promoted from the most successful personal delivery cyclists.

Responsibilities

-Making mostly bicycle-based deliveries to commercial clients. Day-to-day, Cycling Route Managers will deliver laundry on bicycles/tricycles to commercial, institutional, and government clients. When needed cyclist will make deliveries via a car or van depending on the size and location of the laundry processed.

-Cycling Route Managers will be assigned specific geographic territories, and work to build their "route" inside those areas, working to maximize the efficiency of their route and the income it generates.
Relationship / account management. Route Managers will be each client's primary contact at Wash Cycle Laundry. When a new client starts service, they will participate in a hand-off/launch with the sales team. They will ensure that each client is happy with the overall level of service, and will document, report, and ensure timely resolution of any service quality issues. They may also recommend adjustments of inventory levels, handle scheduling changes, and other account management tasks.
Growing each relationship over time. Route Managers will work to grow each relationship that they manage in several ways:
Ensuring that, as clients grow, the inventory levels we supply grows with them.
Cross-selling clients into different product lines, such as adding floor mat service to an account that uses only towels.
Setting up service at other locations that a client operates (i.e., a new store opening)

-Serving as a brand ambassador, close the sale of nearby accounts that have expressed interest in using our services, and report client insight back to our Business Development team. Wash Cycle's Director of Marketing will continue to develop "outbound" campaigns, to attract "inbound" calls from prospective customers. If possible, we will close these accounts over the phone, but oftentimes, these customers want to see linen samples and talk to a Wash Cycle employee in person. Route Managers will be the final "closers" for these clients who have already expressed an interest in using our services. Additionally, Cycling Route Managers will work to understand how Wash Cycle could serve its clients better, and report ideas, insights, and opportunities for improvement back to our Business Development team.

-Tracking and billing for usage and inventory on rental accounts. In addition to generating accurate and timely invoices for normal service, route managers will verify that our records of linen inventory at the client's site are valid, and that replacement inventory is adequately billed.

-Participating in the selection, onboarding, and training of other members of the Wash Cycle Laundry team, especially new Cycling Route Managers.

-Attending regular meetings and training sessions according to the needs of the business as determined by each route manager's supervisor.

-Perform basic upkeep and maintenance on the bicycles that they use for deliveries.

-Other responsibilities and tasks as required from time to time by the business.

Qualifications

-Confident, safe, experienced urban cyclist, capable of safely riding a bicycle through difficult weather conditions and difficult traffic conditions. -Experience with cargo hauling a plus.
-Ability to tow up to 300 lbs of cargo along level or slightly inclined ground without the assistance of a motor.
-Ability to lift and handle laundry bags that may weigh up to 50 lbs.
-Good written and oral communications and customer service skills.
-Proficient in mental arithmetic.
-Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed, accurate, real-time records on computers and mobile devices of pick-ups and deliveries made.
-Basic bicycle maintenance, such as changing a tire.

Compensation

-Route Managers will receive a percentage of each order they deliver. They may also be eligible for certain sales incentives and bonuses based on specific promotions.
-Route Managers who regularly work more than 30 hours per week will be eligible for benefits per Wash Cycle Laundry's employee handbook.
