POSITION PURPOSE
-

The Sr. IT Developer will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting web applications using the latest technologies and frameworks. They must have strong experience in non-native (platform independent) mobile & browser based applications using standard technologies and frameworks like Java, JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5, CSS3, JSON, AJAX, DOM, XML, Angular, BootStrap, etc. They will have hands on development experience in java, web services and database integration. This individual should have a passion for web technologies and will contribute to the development of best in class BI applications, standards and best practices within Home Depot's Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) group. They must provide input and feedback to project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of UI applications throughout the project lifecyle. They must have the ability to participate on multiple projects and handle rapidly changing priorities and must possess a general understanding of multiple platforms and technologies e.g. databases, security, performance, networking principles, operating systems, infrastructure and emerging technology trends.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

Ability to translate product feature Requirements into highly scalable and robust mobile/browser based applications.

Thorough understanding of MVC principles and of CSS and HTML5 capabilities in the development of cross-browser mobile applications.

Strong experience developing and implementing client side UI applications with standard UI components and creating custom UI components.

Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs using standard web service development frameworks and methodologies i.e. DAO, RESTFul Web services, etc.

SQL, Web Services, Data Transformation, and Data Movement Skills.

Provide technical direction to associate Developers and Contractors.

Promote and adhere to application development best practices, processes, policies, standards and procedures.

Working knowledge of common tool sets: including Hibernate, Log4j, Sonar, Jenkins and SVN.

Experience with Apache Tomcat Grid server-side components and deployments.

Knowledge of capabilities and design constraints of different mobile platforms and browsers.

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (SCRUM / XP).

Ability and desire to learn new technologies.

Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.

NATURE AND SCOPE -

Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology.

No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.


EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 5

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

5+ years application development experience designing and developing browser based and non-native mobile web apps.

Familiarity with mobile and browser based UI and UX design patterns.

Client side UI and Server side development experience.

Strong debugging skills with the ability to reach out and work with peers to solve complex cross platform issues.

Knowledge of Business Intelligence, Reporting and Analytics concepts and technologies e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau, Microsoft SSAS, etc.

Knowledge of BI/DW concepts e.g. Inmon vs Kimball, star schemas vs snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, conformed dimensions, additive vs non-additive metrics, facts, dimension hierarchies, database aggregate design, etc.

Strong knowledge of market leading databases e.g. Teradata, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, etc.

Understanding of modern source code control tools such as: GIT, SVN, or TFS.

Solid knowledge of mobile architectures and development constraints inherent in Mobile systems.

Retail/business experience a plus.

BS Computer Science or related field.
