Patient Transporter-Transportation-East Orlando-Part Time

Florida Hospital Orlando seeks to hire a Transporter who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Florida Hospital East Orlando, a 265-bed community hospital, has been serving East Orlando residents since 1941 as an innovative local leader that fills a vital need in a fast-growing area. A recent 200,000 square-foot expansion project upgraded the hospital to 265 beds, with a spacious patient tower and 80 new private rooms designed to enhance the holistic care experience.

Department Profile:

The Transportation Team at East Orlando enhances the patient and guest experience by providing safe and courteous transport of to and from different destinations within our campus. The transportation team supports nursing units and clinical areas, such as radiology, cardiology, and surgical areas, by facilitating the transport of patients, and patient related material. Our team consists of a diverse group of over (45) Patient Transporters who extend the healing ministry of Christ. Our mission is to provide exceptional customer service to our patients while ensuring collaboration between all departments we serve to ensure top tier response times and turnaround times

Work Hours/Shifts:

Days: Varies evening including weekends

Hours:2:30pm-11:00pm

Job Summary:

Personally facilitates the movement of patients or patients related items, in the most expeditious, professional, and customer service oriented manner possible, using the most expedient method at your disposal. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience Required:

People Skills: Ability to understand customers' needs and respond to them in a pro-active, courteous, professional, and efficient manner.

Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, speak appropriately in English using good diction, and respond to peoples needs in a pleasant and courteous manner as perceived by the customer, and as appropriate to adolescents, adult and geriatric patients.

Technical Skills: Ability to operate stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs.

CPR Certification (Preferred)

Customer Service Experience (Preferred)

License, Certification or Registration Required:

None

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital's Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization's Performance Excellence Program

Personally facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients from area to area via stretchers, wheelchairs, beds and cribs.

Personally facilitates the efficient and expedited movement of patient related items such as belongings, paperwork, labs and equipment.

Assists in the safe transfers of customers (such as: from bed to stretcher or wheelchair).

Accurately records the transport and reports the necessary information by correctly using the TeamChimes phone system.

Appropriately utilizes PPE, and follows HIPPA, OSHA, and Florida Hospital's Policies and Procedures.

When requested, carries non-narcotic medication from the Pharmacy or Radiology to the designated care area. The transporter will hand the medication to the appropriate care giver.

Ensures that hallways are maintained clear of clutter related to wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, mattresses, transportation carts and cribs by moving equipment not in use to designated equipment storage areas.

Maintains competencies related to annual completion of BARE Facts, NPSG's, PPD's, and CPR refresher course.

Performs other duties as required and keeps a safe environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
