SPECIAL NOTES: This position requires a security background check, drug screening, and participation in direct deposit. EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Incumbent must be a Registered Nurse, in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes. A BSN preferred.
DESCRIPTION: This is an independent Registered Nurse position assigned primarily to a clinic area under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse Supervisor. This position works in a clinical setting but may require fieldwork.
CLINIC SERVICES: Promotes and maintains health of individuals, families and community through appropriate preventative and rehabilitative measures, provides comprehensive nursing in Immunization clinic, Integrated Clinic (Family Planning/Title X, Improved Pregnancy Outcome Program, Sterilization Referral Clinic) and Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic. These services include: childhood and adult immunizations, growth and development monitoring, assessing of vital signs, counseling, health screening, health education, referrals and follow-up of the referrals, maintaining quality records in the clinic or community setting and collecting of laboratory specimen.
SUPPORT SERVICES: Maintains comprehensive quality records, collects and reports pertinent data to nursing and department supervisors and physicians; provides appropriate case follow-up; participates in case conferences; confers with other professionals; formulates and evaluates care plans, assists in record reviews and QI projects: recognizes and understands the changes in the community and nursing practice which affects community health unit programs/plans; serves as a staff advisor to student affiliates and new nurses.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Navigates the DOH InfoNet/IntraNet, uses Microsoft office and assorted software, and use technology equipment.
Provides Family Planning and sterilization counseling per Title X requirements.
Collaborates with clinicians to ensure STI treatment is received and documented.
Documents all observations and actions in an accurate and timely manner in the Health Management System and Electric Health Records.
Participates in Quality and Process improvement initiatives.
Manage contraceptive methods for Family Planning clients.
Incumbent must have current CPR/BLS or receive an approved course within 90 days of employment.
Manages a variety of responsibilities in a timely, efficient manner and is able to prioritize tasks.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES: Other related duties, which may include clinic and emergency assignments as required. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
