I. Job Summary

The Laborer position involves walking on flat and steep slopes, bending, shoveling, reaching, lifting and carrying several types of objects, driving a pick-up truck, operating small equipment such as trash pumps, a snow blower, pallet jack, and larger equipment such as an industrial sweeper, a water truck and bucket loader.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

Manually picks up windblown litter within the landfill, around the perimeter of landfill as well as on-site, and off-site along roadways leading to the landfill. Laborer carries large plastic trash bags and walks the site to pick litter, filling as many bags as necessary. Laborer will lift materials for tasks related to site maintenance, construction projects, and operations support (i.e., pallets, sand bags, bags of bentonite, hand tools, pumps, pump hoses, etc...) Uses hand tools such as shovels, roof rakes, and brooms.

Manually lifts 60-gallon toters, collects recyclable paper from facility offices and the community, and disposes in designated area on-site. Stacks e-waste (i.e., television consoles/monitors, computer towers/monitors, printers) on pallets, transfers into gaylords, and shrink-wraps. Assists with loading into box trailer with pallet jack for end use.

Performs general housekeeping at facility and manual aspects of snow removal as necessary.
