About this job
The Dietitian provides information and instruction to clients and their significant others. Participates in projects related to area of specialty and the development/revision of procedures/policies/ educational materials/guidelines/ educational programs. Collaborates with and serves as a resource for other health professionals to promote delivery of quality services and patient education within the institution as well as the community. Essential Functions:
Assesses the educational needs of a select group of patients/significant others/staff and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals. Communicates, collaborates and serves as a consultant/educator to other members of the health care team and the community in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care plans/projects/programs. Provides ongoing review and development of educational materials/products related to area of specialty. Documents educational process/patient information according to divisional/program/regulatory guidelines. Counsels patients/significant others to enable them to adjust to living with a specific medical condition. Participates in community programs to enhance the community's knowledge of support services and to coordinate services.
Basic Qualifications:
Education - Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
Experience - 2 years of experience in Nutritional counseling or similar experience
Licenses - Registered Dietician, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)
