Job Summary:

The Neo/Peds Transport Respiratory Therapist, functioning as a member of the transport team, performs all necessary respiratory care and stabilization procedures associated with transporting acute or critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients during Florida Hospital Tampa interfacility transports in accordance with FHT protocols. He/she initiates and maintains appropriate therapy, including life support technique and equipment, while at the referral facility and during transport. Minimum competency in all applicable advanced clinical skills must be exceeded. The Neo/Peds transport therapist is also responsible for Advanced Respiratory Therapist responsibilities when not performing actively on the transport team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Must be available to take call as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.

Must be at the level of Critical Care Respiratory Therapist and have at least one year neonatal and pediatric critical care experience.

Must have successfully completed appropriate transport training regimen as directed by the Department Manager; complete the requisite number of supervised orientation transports demonstrating proficiency at procedures defined in the principal duties and responsibilities section of this job description.

Must be able to effectively deliver patient care while in transport via the confined spaces and unique environment of motor vehicle.

Minimum of 2,000 hours of Level II and Level III NICU experience for a RRT, or 3,000 hours for a Certified RT.

Accompanied a minimum of six (6) Neonatal Transports prior to staffing as a transport as the only RT in attendance.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

Current Florida State License as a Certified Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 3,000 hours of Level II or Level III NICU experience (documentation of hours required) or;

Current Florida State License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred with 2,000 hours of Level II and Level III NICU experience (documentation of hours required).

AHA NRP Certification.

Current BLS required (ACLS and PALS required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment for pediatric transports).
