JOB SUMMARY:
Performs billing functions for all medications and pharmacy supplies provided to patients. Bills hospital departments for requisitioned supplies. Places drug orders to wholesalers and manufacturers. Checks in drug merchandise and processes invoices. Orders supplies from the hospitals purchasing department. Restocks nursing unit floor stock carts and cassettes. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, fills unit does medication cassettes and prepares IV medications for patients. Performs clerical duties as required. Delivers medication cassettes and IVs to nursing units. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, prepares and labels unit dose containers from bulk supplies when required. Answers the phone and takes phone messages for the pharmacist when necessary. Keeps pricing of supplies up to date. Maintains adequate inventory of IV medication batches and all other medications and supplies. Assists in conducting annual inventory when required. Files controlled drug records and other essential documents.
EDUCATIONAL/LICENSING:
High school degree or equivalent required, some college education preferred. Oregon State Certification required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum of six months hospital or retail technician experience preferred. Completion of a technician certification program desired. Must be able to stand for significant periods of time. Must be able to perform moderate lifting functions and push somewhat heavy carts over carpeted surfaces. Must possess knowledge of good sterile technique.
