Description:

The Mountain Safety Manager works with the Mountain Safety Department and Ski Patrol to ensure the safety of our on-mountain guests through proactive reinforcement of the Skier Safety Act and Responsibility Code. This person will work closely with the Ski Patrol Director to ensure mountain safety. The Mountain Safety Manager is responsible for departmental scheduling, staff development, proper and appropriate reporting of all instances, and procedural enforcement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills and strong guest service skills
  • Oversees the Day to Day Operations Scheduling and adequate staffing. Effective supervisory skills in regards to motivation, morale and positive reinforcement , disciplinary and corrective action and documented mid and end of season evaluations.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mountain Safety and Safety Program Including “Ski Safety Act” and “Your Responsibility Code” Looks for innovative ways to promote and enforce ski safety.
  • Effective working relationships inter/intra departmentally
  • Extensive knowledge of Breckenridge Ski Resort Operations, including but not limited to risk management, ski patrol, terrain park, ski school, lift operations, guest service
  • Monitor and prepare budget and payroll Scheduling, Training and development of supervisor and leads


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of on-mountain experience in Mountain Safety or a related department (Ski Patrol, Security, Mountain Operations).
  • Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year.
  • Advanced/Expert level Skier or Rider.
  • Must have the ability to stand for up to 6 hours.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree from an accredited University.
  • Previous Supervisory Experience.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.
