Bachelor's prepared (BSN, BS, etc.) required.

3+ years recent experience in clinical specialty.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Enrolled in a masters nursing program.

This position will need to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients, i.e., understand normal patterns of adult behavior and look for signs of normal aging prior experience with various age groups is preferred.

Strong analytical skills.

Proven leadership skills.

Good organizational skills

Basic computer knowledge.

Effective communication and presentation skills.

Current RN license in the State of Illinois.

Certification in specialty area.

CPR Certification.

Ability to work flexible hours according to customer needs.

Ability to prioritize independently and respond to multiple simultaneous requests.

Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.

To provide clinical expertise and leadership to plan, develop, and implement educational programs, standards of care, policies and procedures and competency assessment for specialized clinical areas/departments. The clinical nurse educator will integrate education, research, management, leadership, and consultation into clinical roles, and they function in collegial relationships with nursing peers and other professionals and individuals that influence the health environment. The scope of practice will impact patient care through contact with patients and their support systems throughout the health~illness continuum.

Accountabilities:

Practitioner: Demonstrates expert clinical judgment and autonomy, provides health care providers with recommended guidelines to achieve optimal level of practice.

Educator: Develops and provides ongoing education programs for healthcare providers to ensure availability of current information regarding patient care and maintenance/enhancement of clinical skills.

Consultant: Serves as a consultant and/or resource person for hospital personnel in area of specialization. Accepts referrals and collaborates with physicians, nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary team in planning the care of patients needing specialized nursing. Initiates referral to other healthcare providers and resource agencies as necessary.

Administrative/Leadership: Demonstrates leadership qualities that reflect accountability and interdependence consistent with goals of the organization.

Researcher: Promotes research findings by making appropriate recommendations for changes in policies, procedures, and practice.
