Plan, buy, and merchandise departments to achieve maximum sales, AUR and gross margin dollars Review business and report on product performance weekly. Recommend pricing and promotional strategies to profitably manage each business to achieve its financial plan. Collaborate with Planning on weekly markdown strategies and replenishment Partner with DMM and Planning to build seasonal category financial targets. Collaborate with Planning to build sales, AUR, and margin plans by SBU/department/class Manage and build 4 seasonal product buys that drive sales and margin and deliver the annual financial plan targets. Responsible for buying and merchandising over 3000 styles annually Collaborate with the corporate Merchandising team to determine the line structure, assortment content and product mix/ flow that meets the needs of the online consumer. Test new products and grow online exclusive assortment offering Develop the visual merchandising strategy for the online category pages, to include product categorization, visual merchandising, promotional set up, pricing and sort order rules. Lead a team of assistants / coordinators to execute the brand vision online Partner with Retail Buyers (brick & mortar) to deliver a focused, omni channel experience for the consumer. Deliver a seamless and consistent product assortment and promotional strategy. Collaborate with eComm marketing, Brand Marketing and Retail to develop seasonal / weekly / daily marketing and event plans (content slotting). Collaborate on promotions, content, product selects and timing of events. Create online exclusive content/"shops" for hallmark categories and seasonal products Understand the competitive landscape and have a point of view on your categories. Monitor pricing and key item strategies in top 5 online competitors Develop direct reports in strategies and tactics of buying. Create stretch projects and develop the appropriate skill set needed to become a buyer, including retail math and profit management, assortment planning/buying, and site merchandising/content Entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the online space

Experience and Skills

Proficiency and knowledge of retail math and analytics, merchandising principles, product knowledge Previous experience working in an environment where Buyers partner closely with Planning Previous experience in a sku intensive environment Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, time management Experienced in Excel and Microsoft Office Mid Career (5+ years) BA/BS (4 years) 5-7 years buying experience, fashion merchandising, business or marketing degree (high volume, major brands) Online buying experience preferred Previous Childrens (and/or Baby) Buying experience or Vertical Retail experience preferred Carters is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
