At John Deere, operations is directly responsible for producing equipment that helps feed and clothe people around the world. Here, production supervisors have the opportunity to apply their team--building and problem--solving skills, coordinate product launches and serve as liaisons between union and salaried workers. What You'll Do

As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer for John Deere Product Engineering Center located in Waterloo, IA, you will provide project management for projects which will include guiding and directing activities for contractors and maintenance skilled trades. Provide troubleshooting expertise on facilities machines, equipment and infrastructure. In addition you will:

Provide engineering design for the infrastructure for the facility, grounds, test equipment and processes through both internal and external resources.

Handle projects that are more complex and require integration and coordination of various engineering disciplines.

Provide project management of projects related to the facility infrastructure, test machines, equipment and processes that support the PEC operation.

Handle projects that are more complex and may integrate several areas of engineering and require limited management of outside design professionals and contractors.

Provide troubleshooting of the facility infrastructure and equipment to support product development and maintenance operations.

Respond to critical down situations affecting manufacturing PEC lab operations

Maintain project budget cost control on projects assigned through project cost control system for the unit.

Provide life, safety and building code analysis and supports and implements programs within the organization to prevent injuries and illnesses. Assists in the identification and resolution of potential environmental, safety, ergonomic and health hazards.

Serve as backup Maintenance Supervisor for 20 skilled trades employees as required

We need an excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have an Associate's degree in a field such as electronic engineering, automotive mechanics, automotive electronics, robotics, aviation, maintenance, facility maintenance, electrician o r equivalent experience. In addition, we require:

At least 4 years of experience in facility maintenance related fields- HVAC, hydraulics, plumbing, and electrical

Construction / project management experience

Excellent people skills

Excellent computer skills

Self-starter and able to multitask

Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

A strong candidate will also have:

PLC programming experience

SAP knowledge

Working knowledge of National Electric Codes and NFPA70E.
