About this job

Main Job Function: Perform integration and test activities including development of test documentation, engineering studies and execution of assigned tasks within the field environment of Thales' US customers


Primary Job Responsibilities:

Provides technical support in all operational matters in the conduct of integration, site acceptance and commissioning activities
Performs site acceptance and commissioning tests at the customer's sites
Investigates system anomalies through analysis of data files, design documentation and interaction with development departments at the direction of the Lead Test Engineer or Engineering Manager
Troubleshoot, repair or replace equipment as needed
Prepares test reports which record results of test activities
Identifies problems detected during the tests and notifies design team
Provides technical support to the Lead Test Engineer in the planning of field activities and interface with the project team
Coordinates with the customer for the planning and execution of field tests at the direction of the Lead Test Engineer or Engineering Manager,
Assesses and interprets customer needs and translates them to Lead Test Engineer or Engineering Manager for disposition when required


Walking through various test scenarios, troubleshooting, working with engineers,
Coordinating with team in Toronto
basic test equipment - electrical -
Multiple levels of tests - in field we have integration test phase and site acceptance
In integration we test individual component phase then dynamic pics making sure components as communicating. Testing outputs of transponder
Test radios - vsmf meter to test signal strength


Gather logs and send to,software engineers
A lot of communication with engineers in Toronto
May have to repeat certain
field test engineer

Testing communication between ATS and zone control - allows trains to move in certain areas. Then test those two systems and the train. Zone controller talks to switches

Get to point to exercise full system
Report bugs in software
Send logs
Know how to use Microsoft office
Job Requirements and Essential Skills:

Experience performing installation, testing or maintenance activities in a field site environment
Excellent organizational and communications skills, both verbal and written (English,) and good interpersonal skills
Experience in a rail transit installation, test or support environment or similar technology application is strongly preferred
Experience in task planning, performance tracking and reporting strongly preferred
Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities and adapt to changes in priorities, including night and weekend work
Occasional travel within North America (Less than 10%)

Centralized test organization for testing

Education and Experience:

Experience in installation and testing of train control systems.
B.S. Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of technical B.S. degree and work experience
Working knowledge of Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) products with respect to installation support and testing a strong asset.
