Under the supervision of the Correctional Plant Supervisor, the Supervising Groundskeeper II will perform the following duties:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties: This position is a working supervisory position and will directly supervise the work of employees and inmates engaged in the planting, cultivating, propagating, transplanting, and caring for trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, lawns, and various ground covers, supervise the use and maintenance of gardening tools and equipment, direct and instruct assistants in their work and take or recommend appropriate action, design and lay out minor landscape work, supervise the operation and maintenance of greenhouses and other buildings used for plant propagation, supervise the pest and noxious weed control work program including the Pest Technician position, supervise tree trimming and perform minor tree surgery, identify and label shrubs, trees, and flowers for instruction purposes, perform minor layout work on and direct the maintenance and repair of roads and walks, direct the preparation of athletic fields for various sports, maintain the proper drainage system for grounds or roadside plantings, make minor repairs and adjustments to irrigation systems, inspect contract work for compliance with the contract specifications. Provide training and instruction for subordinates and assistants. Possess a valid California Driver's License. Respond to emergency calls to work (callbacks). Perform other duties as required
