Intermediate Summer Equipment Operator and Track Installer - Full Time, Summer Seasonal, Vail Mountain

These individuals will assist in the building and installation of the mountain coaster, with additional assistance in heavy equipment operation. The project is estimated to start sometime around April 20th and continue through early October.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Able to work with power tools such as impact guns, angle grinders, cut-off saw, and hammer drills, along with hand tools such as shovels, pick-axe, and a tape measure.
  • Operate equipment per SOP safely and effectively.
  • Training of lesser qualified operators and supervising projects on your own.
  • Assist with the installation of the Vail Mountain Coaster.
  • Report directly to Project Manager or Foreman with issues, concerns or problems
  • May be required to perform daily mountain maintenance and assist with mountain improvements including re-vegetation, trail maintenance, erosion control and general mountain clean-up.
  • May be required to assist in the building and maintenance of signs, fences, decks, closure structures, and conduit installations.
  • Minor carpentry responsibilities may be required as well.
  • Physical duties to include: lifting and carrying materials, digging, rope running, general maintenance
  • Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to follow instructions, and work independently after they have been introduced to the job.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, mountain staff, and guests
  • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and those around you
  • Implement safety standards and practices on a daily basis
  • Ability to stand outside in all weather conditions, for 10+ hours per day
  • Ability to be ready, and fit for work, as early as 6:00am each day
  • Must have a valid driver's license and have the ability to drive vehicles including 4WD trucks, quad runners and mules (training included).
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be trained or willing to receive training in heavy machinery operation, i.e. forklifts, pickup truck with flatbed, chainsaw, small excavator.
  • Must have previous snowcat experience - required
  • Must be able to understand and complete on the job site grade work on the job site - required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.or more - required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time - required
  • Must have excellent guest service skills - required.
  • Must adhere to policies, procedures and safety guidlines - required.
  • Experience working in a winter environment - preferred
  • Must have a valid drivers license - required.
  • Must have a high school diploma - at minimum - required.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed - required.
