Job Description
As a Kids Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day organization, operation, promotion, administration and supervision of "All Things Kids-Related" within the club. You will manage and lead a group of team members who are responsible for providing a fun, entertaining, engaging, educational and safe environment for our Life Time Junior Members. Activities will feature a variety of interactive, educational- and/or fitness-based programs that kids enjoy. You'll also be responsible for optimizing departmental performance and excellence to reach or exceed revenue goals. By consistently delivering high quality service, you will assist in growing and retaining Kids Memberships.
Duties & Responsibilities
Member Experience
Greets and welcomes parents and children in a warm and friendly manner
Exhibits outstanding customer service by developing positive relationships with members
Articulates extensive knowledge of Life Time programs, products, services, policies and procedures
Ensures team members initiate, develop and maintain personal relationships with members and their children
Resolves child conflicts in a fair and professional manner
Quickly responds to members' questions, comments and concerns
Executes a number of all-club member events per year
Sales & Promotion
Markets, promotes and sells all Kids programs throughout the club and in the community to increase participation
Plans and organizes special events throughout the year to promote value to the members for club participation and increase attendance in fee-based programs
Promotes all Life Time programs, products and services
Ensures team members continually increase their knowledge of Life Time products, services, policies and procedures.
Work directly with the membership sales team to acquire and retain Kids memberships
Financial & Budgetary
Monitors Kids revenue, registrations and program attendance
Oversees department budget and participates in the annual planning process
Monitors Kids profit-and-loss statements and making necessary adjustments within the department
Completes payroll and ensures labor costs are within the budgetary guidelines
Maintains Kids-related inventory and ordering supplies
Managerial & Supervisory
Plans programming for all areas of the Kids Academy
Manages Coordinators, observes and evaluates various programs including:
Life Time Kids Academy Classes
PlaySpace (Toddler) Programming
Birthday Parties
Summer Camps
Rock Climbing programs & Open Climbing
Trains Coordinators and team members through shadowing instructors, orientation, direction and feedback
Coaches and counsels Coordinators and team members
Recruits and interviews Coordinators and approves final hires for frontline team members
Ensure program audits are completed and documented monthly
Customer Service:
Serve external and internal customers in a caring, courteous and professional manner to promote Life Time's family-friendly hospitality
Maintain a positive attitude while communicating and cooperating with parents to better accommodate the needs of their children
Safety:
Complies with all company safety rules
Uses all required safety devices and personal protection equipment
Reports accidents and injuries to supervisor as soon as possible
Participates in safety training and safety inspections
Suggests methods of preventing hazards to safety committee
Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse relating to youth
Education:
Four-year college degree in early childhood development, recreation management or related field with 12 credit hours in business
Experience:
Two years customer service experience
Two years management or supervisory experience
Two years managing financials of a department in a profit & loss environment
One year experience teaching or working in a children's program (preferred)
One year experience in day care setting as a lead teacher or two consecutive summers of camp experience with increased responsibility (preferred)
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:
First Aid certification required within the first 60 days of hire
Infant/Child and Adult CPR/AED certification required within the first 60 days of hire
Early Childhood Education Certificate (preferred)
Successfully complete and pass Kids Manager and Kids Activities Department Head certification
Other Requirements
Must complete all state or federal requirements prior to first day of directly working with children or within other specified timeframe. Requirements vary by state and may include, but are not limited to:
Tuberculosis test
All required vaccinations (or signed exemption)
Fingerprints taken by a local police department for a background check
Background checks required by state specific child care licensing laws in addition to a Life Time background check
Continuing education courses for continued employment in working with children
All requirements must be completed at the cost of the applicant, unless prohibited by law.
