Graduate from an accredited school with a clinical externship for CMA training.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Good communication skills both written and verbal.

Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

Basic keyboarding and typing skills.

This position may need to recognize needs and behaviors of age groups of patients treated in this case, prior experience with such age groups is required.

Current CMA certification.

CPR certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire.

Must be able to successfully complete clinic~based training for all associates.

Ability to work with all levels of personnel.

Ability to work under stressful situations.

Frequent periods of extended standing and sitting. Possible lifting and assisting of patients.

The Certified Medical Assistant will support the physician/s and other providers in delivering quality health care to ambulatory patients and perform a variety of nursing related tasks to promote continuity of care. This health care professional will collaborate with other health care disciplines and follow department and Clinic policies and procedures.

GENERAL NURSING REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrates comprehension of basic disease processes.

Demonstrates competence in administering oral, topical, intramuscular, subcutaneous and intradermal medications.

Demonstrates knowledge of common maintenance medications and nursing protocol to refill and advise.

Demonstrates competency in suture/staple removal.

Demonstrates ability in interpreting test results and notifies appropriate medical staff of results as necessary.

ALLERGY

In addition to the general nursing requirements:

Demonstrates ability to complete allergy skin testing.

DERMATOLOGY

In addition to general nursing requirements:

Able to assist with small procedures, biopsies, excisions and giving appropriate wound care and other patient instructions.

Assist with laser procedures especially aftercare.

Knowledge of application of PUVA therapy.

ENT

In addition to general nursing requirements:

Able to assist with small procedures, biopsies, wound care and other patient instructions.

Able to schedule all physicians' surgeries efficiently.

Documented successful completion of ENT competencies.

GASTROENTEROLOGY

In addition to general nursing requirements:

Demonstrates ability to cleanse, set up, and test flexible sigmoidoscopy equipment.

Able to provide patient education and accurately schedule for all procedures.

GENERAL SURGERY

In addition to general nursing requirements:

Demonstrates ability to provide patient education on wound care, A/V fistula's, preoperative and postoperative care.

Demonstrates ability to accurately schedule surgical procedures and tests at hospital locations, along with follow up physician appointments related to those procedures.

Able to assist with biopsies, excisions, I and D's (incision and drainage), needle aspirations, hemorrhoids, una boots, suture/staple removals, dressing changes, and give appropriate patient instructions.

INTERNAL MEDICINE

In addition to the general nursing requirements:

Demonstrates competency in the growth and development of the adult patient (18 years +).

Demonstrates ability to monitor respiratory status competently administers nebulizer treatments and evaluates patient response.

Demonstrates ability to competently perform ear wash.

Demonstrates ability to competently perform EKG's.

Demonstrates ability to assist provider with paps and provide accurate patient education.
