The WellMed Sr. Director, Analytics is a newly created role that reports to the VP, Market Operations (FL) and will be responsible for assisting with a wide range of duties including strategic analysis, planning and monitoring of strategies to improve the performance of the contracted network in Florida. [WellMed is part of the Local Care Delivery model under Optum]. This individual will conduct internal and external assessments to identify factors and then determine and recommend strategies for improvement in areas such as financial performance, improved quality (including HEDIS/STAR benchmarking) coding and provider engagement.
 
This Sr. Director is responsible for collaborating with the senior leadership across the organization to understand and anticipate barriers for improving contracted network performance within the organization. This position will be critical to building the region market and provider specific action plans to improve key metrics that will drive overall contracted network improvement. The work of the Sr. Director, Analytics will impact multiple markets/sites and function as a liaison who reconciles reports and communicate back to UHC on results and metrics.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Works with HCE to research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of revenue and utilization/healthcare costs data
Provides management with statistical findings and conclusions
Identifies potential areas for revenue and/or medical cost improvements for assisting market network staff on network performance strategies
Communicates results to relevant audiences and incorporates best practices on report formats and data exchanges with UHC
Provides data in support of financial, utilization, HEDIS, Stars, quality and coding analyses in a manner that is meaningful to leadership and market staff
Develops project scope and manages key action plans from start to finish
Identifies and implements appropriate analytic approaches/methodologies
Works with clinical and non-clinical teams to identify areas of opportunity to drive financial performance of programs
Develops conclusions and recommendations that will drive contracted provider performance
Leverages existing and ad-hoc reporting capabilities to identify trends in contracted network performance and opportunities for overall medical loss ratio improvements
Performs data analytics in support of trend identification, initiative/program development and validation/measurement
Uses data analytics to identify and gain consensus on approaches to address medical cost trends
Designs and implements reports to meet specific customer requirements (e.g., senior leadership, local markets, external customers)
Works with WellMed and UHC IT to build ongoing reporting needs into automated or production environment(s)

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

4 year degree, Finance, Accounting or related field
4+ years financial healthcare analysis experience & strong demonstrated analytical skills
Experience reconciling reports within UHC
Demonstrated experienced with UHC systems, portals, processes and points of contact
Exceptional communication skills useful with senior leadership, management, staff and teams
Experience working across different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
2+ years' experience utilizing professional level presentation skills in presenting complex technology issues/resolutions, strategic projects to executive management
Extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry and related business functions
Proficient Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Effective problem solver with ability to communicate ideas and adeptly influence
Experience interfacing successfully with staff in other functions/departments and providers outside of the enterprise
Ability to travel as needed up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree, MBA preferred
Experience working within or building newly created team, program, initiative, etc.
