Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
 

Conduct comprehensive physical exams, assess health care status, order and interpret tests, provide diagnosis, prescribe medications and formulate treatment plan within the scope of practice ensuring timely provision of necessary services. 
Consult with supervising physician or other health care professionals as necessary.
Perform procedures such as but not limited to joint injections, aspirations, trigger point injections and prescribes and dispenses orthotics, braces, crutches and other orthopedic devices as needed.
Accurately record and maintain patient health information, including initial evaluations, subjective and objective data and discharge plans.
 Educate and inform patients regarding the nature of their condition, progress, and maintenance, and promote utilization of the resources provided by the practice.
 Oversee the work of medical administrative assistants by establishing priorities, coordinating and prioritizing the workload.
Develop clinical skills through continuing education programs, professional development, and internal in-services and educational rounds.
 
Performance Requirements:

Candidates should be able to identify patients' care requirements and carry out treatment plans
Make sound decision within the PA / NP Scope of Practice, executing and communicating with the corresponding parties as required.
Effectively works and communicates with other medical providers, supervising physicians, staff and external sources
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Previous sports medicine, orthopedic, and surgical experience preferred

Requirements


Masters Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Advanced Nurse Practitioner Certification in Primary Care, Adult or Family Practice
DEA License
Active Unrestricted APRN or PA-C license in New York
Personal Liability / Malpractice Insurance
Ability to communicate with patients, primary care team members and management staff
Ability to make care decisions based on best medical practices without direct supervision or guidance by a physician
Basic technical proficiency in the use of computer programs for medical records or internet search for clinical practice
Advanced assessment and treatment plan implementation skills
