We are currently seeking an Associate General Counsel, Litigation & Regulatory to manage the company responses to critical incidents, including supervision/guidance of internal investigations and company response to inquiries from licensors and regulators. This individual will be available on-call 24 hours per day for urgent legal matters and manage litigation through active supervision of outside counsel and guiding litigation strategy. Provide legal counsel to executives and functional leaders across the organization.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Provides legal and risk management consultation to Operations, Quality Assurance, and the Executive team.
  • Selects and manages outside defense counsel in civil lawsuits and assists with discovery responses in litigation.
  • Advises company regarding subpoenas, court proceedings, response to government audits and investigations, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Advises on the development and implementation of company-wide policies and procedures to comply with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes claims, designs educational interventions to reduce exposure, and, in collaboration with Quality Assurance, provides leadership in the development and enhancement of systems, controls and procedures for assuring optimal quality care.
  • Provides advice and employee training on various legal and risk management topics.
  • Performs additional duties and activities as required.

Qualifications Education and Experience:
  • Seven to ten years of experience in litigation and/or healthcare/social services regulation in a midsize or larger law firm required.
  • J.D. required.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Must be admitted or eligible for the state bar.
