The Coding Operations Manager (COM) ensures optimal delivery of services by effectively managing client support, coding production, and designated staff supervision. She / He monitors client satisfaction and implements improved processes where needed to maintain efficiencies while supporting quality and production.
 
The COM maintains effective communication between coders and data specialists, as well as with clients and other Optum departments. The COM will seek direction from and keep the Director, Coding Operations apprised of the departments status with regard to personnel issues / changes, workload assessments / resource needs, client issues, coding production or coding accuracy issues, and proposed disciplinary actions.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Communication
Problem solving
Work flow or process assessment
Monitoring, continuous quality improvement
Timely and accurate delivery of coding services
Support of technical functions
Provides day to day supervision and coordination of staffing assignments for the Coding team
Conducts technical training and coaching sessions for new employees and existing staff
Strategically supports the continued development of the medical record review process and resource tools through project team involvement and leadership
Performs quality audits on all vendor charts as well as internal coding team charts on a quarterly basis
Ensure that established coding standards are consistently applied in all processes
Provides input and feedback on employee performance and conducts counseling and disciplinary actions as necessary 

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in related field
3+ years of operations experience or financial experience
Intermediate experience in MS Office  
Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to interact with multiple levels of management including, clients, vendors, and healthcare providers
Project Management or Program Management experience
