Work in an office setting, located at 4170 Ashford Dunwoody, Atlanta, GAMonday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
The Medical Record Coder will code medical records in electronic formats using ICD-9-CM and ICD-10 for charts in dates of service over a two-year range. Monitor regulatory changes as they apply to ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding guidelines. Serve as a resource to Medicare Advantage Coding to ensure reimbursement accuracy. Perform ongoing analysis of charts for the appropriate coding compliance. Research and resolve assigned Coding projects.  Primary Responsibilities:

Perform Clinical chart reviews on Medical records following Coding guidelines and convention as established by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), American Hospital Association (AHA), and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Extract the appropriate diagnostic codes based on the type of encounter
Maintain production and quality standards
Navigate through Chart Review tool

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED
AAPC or AHIMA Coding Certification
1+ year of coding experience (externship or experience while in coding education programs does not count towards experience)
Understanding of Pathophysiology and Medical Terminology
Experience coding either Physician or Hospital based charts
Proficient using a computer, different programs/systems, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Familiar with Adobe Acrobat
Preferred Qualifications: 

Risk Adjustment/HCC coding experience
2+ years of coding experience
Experience coding both Physician AND Hospital based charts
Knowledge of conducting Coding Audits
