Schuyler, NE has an opening for an Operations Intern. Cargill Schuyler is a beef processing facility. We employ 2,200 employees and process over 1.2 million head of cattle each year. The job responsibilities of an Operations Intern are to become familiar with the work process flow for the plant operations as required by your internship project's objectives. As an intern, you will be trained in the areas to learn basic skills necessary to understand the process to complete assigned projects. These areas of training/projects may include the following:

Operations

* Plant operations

* Plant process studies -- (examples- labor and yield efficiencies, waste factors)

* Energy Utilization

* Process Improvements (plant staffing requirements)

* Inventory Management (scheduling/planning/maintaining inventory levels for packaging and ingredients)

Product Development

* New Product Development -- Testing

* Specification Requirements

EHS

* Overview of OSHA Requirements

* Ergonomic Program and Worksite Analysis

* Safety Training

* Injury/Illness Reporting

* Job Task Procedures (JTP's)

Food Safety

* Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)

* Sanitation Requirements

* USDA regulations and requirements

* HACCP

* Food Safety Initiatives

Environment: This role involves physical activity in agricultural, food, and feed processing environments which generally requires a moderate amount of exertion on a fairly regular basis- involving bending stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. The work may also involve other exertions, conditions or exposures (I.E. -- heat, cold, dust, ect.)

Required

High school diploma or equivalency

Pursuing a Associate's degree from an accredited program in agriculture, business, economics, industrial engineering, food science, and animal science related degrees

Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently/ multi-task

Demonstrated leadership skills

Must be willing to relocate

Work in a cold or warm environment and stand on concrete most of your day

Preferred

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree

Overall 3.0 GPA preferred

Bilingual (Spanish, Burmese, Sudanese, or Somali)

Some travel for training or plant and customer visits
