The Aircraft Cabinet Builder/Upholsterer:
Fabricates and installs aircraft cabinets following sketches, blueprints, designs and written specifications.
Plans and lays-out aircraft interior build-up.
Fabricates jigs and templates for furniture construction.
Prepares and applies veneers and hard wood to aircraft furniture using woodworking tools and machinery in the shop.
Requires knowledge of properties and correct usage of alcohol, oil and water-based stains and finishes, and woodworking tools and machinery.
Work with fabric, vinyl and leather hides, composites and other materials using specified adhesives to cover bulkheads, panels, and cabinets
Sets the highest ethical standards for self and others.
Other duties as assigned.
Associates degree 6 years in the aviation cabinet making/upholstery industry
With H/S or GED, must have a minimum of 8 years in the aviation cabinet making/upholstery industry
Requires the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, T.O. specs, and engineering specifications
Must have experience with basic hand tools and have knowledge of mechanical skills
Must have the ability to use hand tools such as pneumatic tools
Must be able to pass physical
Must wear approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Must be eligible access ITAR controlled items and/or articles
Must be able to work weekends, overtime and other shifts as required
Must be able to obtain a security clearance
