We are seeking a Director of Patient Access to lead the team at North Shore University Hospital, a large tertiary hospital in Manhasset, NY and a key facility within the North Shore-LIJ Health System. This is a full time position reporting to the AVP, Regional Patient Access and responsible for the facility 24/7, requiring involvement at almost any time of the day and weekends. The Director of Patient Access plays a key role in the organization and the operations of the facility and serves as the liaison between Optum360 and the facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
Overseeing the operations of Patient Access functions
Integrates the hospitals functions with primary functions, procedures, improves department performance
Manages and supervises Managers, Supervisors and staff; Selecting staff that has the qualifications and experience to perform an assigned job; Orienting and mentoring staff to assure high levels of performance; Providing ongoing and annual feedback on performance; Assuring adequate coverage at all times
Ensure Patient Access compliance policies are met and maintained
Maintain budget and financial clarity while providing revenue management
Builds and maintains productive inter- and intra-departmental work relationships to support the hospital and assure optimal operations
Ensures the development, update, and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures
Performs related duties, as required

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience within a Patient Access Department
Minimum of 5 years of Management/Supervisory experience in Patient Access
Financial / Budget management experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills needed to facilitate encounters with patients, staff, nurses, physicians, etc.
Ability to handle many situations simultaneously and to exercise sound judgment
Extensive knowledge of PC software (Excel, Access)
Advanced communication skills, and the ability to lead a multitude of people with diverse responsibilities
