Senior Chemist - Urgent Need! - Full-time / Part-time

Aerotek Scientific is reviewing resumes of Chemists that are experienced in the manufacturing, formulations and laminant industries. Looking for an individual that is looking for a long term opportunity with career growth long term within an organization.

Our client is a well established laminant and coating manufacturing plant in North Kansas City. They're currently growing, and looking for an Chemist that's ready for a new opportunity. Someone that can hit the ground running from day one, and need minimal supervision. There will be some training for 2-6 months depending on how much experience and skills you have coming in.

Position Summary:

Primary responsibilities include any or all of the steps from the initial experimental formulation, to the generation of a working formula, base-line testing, evaluation, scale-up, and introduction into the marketplace. Sample preparation, raw material evaluations, physical property testing, weathering performance, and varied application of said product are all part of the daily activities associated with this position.

• Conducts product testing, benchmarking, and evaluation of new products being developed in the lab.
• Completion of lab work requests submitted through project database system.
• Formulate approach to achieve results requested on lab project.
• Design and conduct experiments to test approach versus request.
• Analyze data to determine follow-up steps.
• Verify repeatability of successful approaches.
• Develop and document test methods.
• Establish specifications.
• Transfer lab scale process to pilot and production levels.
• Training of less experienced staff.
• Travel with Sales Personnel to customer upon request.
• Provide formulation guidance to process engineering and production.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry or related science.
• 3-5 years of experience doing any formulation in the kinds of products we work with-peroxide initiated cure of unsaturated polyester resins (UPR) in styrene that are promoted and adjusted with various anilines, quinones and cobalt or copper salts.
• Demonstrated proficiency in end use formulation and evaluation.
• Ability to work independantly and prioritze work effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Open minded, creative, innovative adn optimistic. Critical and analytical thinking.

Starting Pay, Duration and Benefits:

• $70,000 to $90,000 based on experience and skill level for the right candidate.
