Monday-Friday: 10am to 3pm (position will be full time during our peak season August through January Monday-Friday 9am- 5pm)



Job Summary



The Retail Clerk drives the sales of store items by being knowledgeable of product and assisting customers on a daily basis.



 



Essential Job Duties




  • Assists customers in store and over the phone by offering recommendations and sharing knowledge of product.

  • Weighs merchandise to determine price.

  • Lists, totals, and informs customer of total price of purchases.

  • Receives payment from customer for purchases and makes change.

  • Processes, prepares, and ships customer orders received by phone or internet

  • Bags or wraps purchases for customer.

  • Cleans shelves, bins, tables, and coolers.

  • Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise.

  • Ensures merchandise is up-to-date and fresh.

  • Sets up displays and stocks shelves, coolers, counter, bins, tables, freezers, containers, or trays with new merchandise.

  • This job works under general instructions, and is expected to accomplish work assignments with a limited amount of supervision by following standard practices and procedures.



Knowledge and Skill Requirements




  • Language Ability:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and understand English.

  • Math Ability:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.



Education and Experience




  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Physical Demands




  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

  • Steady and sustained concentrated visual and mental awareness is a required by this job

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to grasp or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; bend or twist; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
