Visalia area has an immediate opening for a
Permanent-Intermittent, Maintenance Worker, maximum of 98 hours per month
Duties: Under the direction of the administrative
lieutenant or sergeant, perform as the Maintenance Worker for the Visalia Area
to provide general janitorial support, landscape maintenance, and facility
maintenance. The applicant will also provide assistance to the Automotive
Technician II in maintaining the vehicle fleet.
Mow and edge surrounding lawns, remove weeds and debris
from grounds and flower beds. Trim bushes and trees. Ensure the facility and
surrounding grounds are kept neat, clean, and in good repair to reflect
favorably upon the Department.
Remove oil, dirt, and nonhazardous spills from facility
grounds, walkways, fence lines, and parking areas. Clean sidewalks. Empty and
clean waste and ashtray receptacles on the facility grounds. Water and maintain
ornamental plantings in and around buildings and parking areas. Maintain a
record of grounds repairs, and order supplies for landscape maintenance and
repair.
Perform janitorial duties to maintain building interior,
including sweeping, vacuuming, moping, waxing and buffing floors. Clean, dust
and polish desks, counters, and furniture. Empty waste receptacles, clean and
maintain restrooms including cleaning mirrors, toilet bowls, urinals, wash
basins, refilling lavatory supply dispensers, and cleaning counters. Assist in
moving and arranging furniture and equipment. Replace light globes and tubes as
needed.
Maintain janitorial supplies to ensure a clean and safe
work environment. Wash interior and exterior windows, clean window sills,
remove smudges or marks from all interior and exterior walls, doors, and glass.
Clean break room, including appliances, tables, cabinets, counter tops, sink
and disposal, and common items including the refrigerator.
Deliver motor vehicles to service stations and garages
for necessary maintenance and repair. Maintain vehicle and fuel records.
Requisition and maintain inventories of automotive supplies. Make minor
automotive adjustments and repairs. Change oil, lubricate, and refuel vehicles.
Clean interior and wash patrol vehicles.
Who May Apply: Persons currently in the
classification eligible to transfer, lateral transfers, voluntary demotions,
reinstatements, those eligible for appointment from a certification list, and
employees on a State Restriction of Appointments (SROA) list or designated
Surplus. All applicants will be considered, only the most qualified will be
