Job Summary The University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) is one of the three campuses of the University of Michigan system. UM-Dearborn is a comprehensive university offering high-quality undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education to residents of southeastern Michigan, and it attracts more than 8,500 students. Faculty and students have the opportunity to collaborate across all three campuses in research and scholarly activity. UM-Dearborn is located 10 miles west of downtown Detroit and 35 miles east of Ann Arbor. The campus is strategically located on 200 suburban acres of the original Henry Ford Estate in the Greater Detroit Metropolitan Region.

The position, Director of Health Professions Advising reports to the Associate Dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Services and includes advising, educational program initiatives, and experiential and service learning for all the students enrolled in the Pre-Health Programs (Pre-Medicine, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-PA, Pre-Veterinary, Pre-Optometry) of the University, as well as in the Health Programs offered in CEHHS. Responsibilities include: advising, mentoring and counseling the pre-health and health students of the University on the academic, extracurricular and professional requirements for the health professions of their choice.

The Director supports pre-health and health students regarding the health professional options and opportunities by:

securing opportunities for students within the health professions advising students on their post-baccalaureate aspirations supporting existing relationships with educational institutions, community, and health partners establishing relationships with neighboring health professional schools (Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, PA, PT, OT, Veterinary, Optometry, Public Health etc.) guiding the health related student organizations organizing health related events for information and placement of students The Director maintains professional standing by:

participating in professional events, advising and health related conferences, meetings and workshops maintaining membership in the state, regional and national health professions advising societies supporting existing relationships with educational institutions, community, and health partners The incumbent will also work collaboratively with faculty for the improvement of the pre-health and health programs and with admissions for recruitment of students pursuing health professions and promotional materials concerning the pre-health and health programs. The Director is expected to use the existing tracking mechanism for student management and analysis of the data for tracking students pursuing any health profession in the University; serve as the webmaster for the health/pre-health website; and prepare an annual report for the Health Professions Advising program

Required Qualifications* Master's degree in a scientific discipline or a health related field Experience in managing curriculum development projects Experience in working with academic support and student success Experience in advising, mentoring and teaching of students Knowledge of the health professional fields and the health professional opportunities in Michigan and neighboring states Ability to work with the University in bringing new programs, organizing events Ability to interact effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and students Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Desired Qualifications* Doctoral degree or higher in a scientific discipline or a health related field Extensive Advising experience Experience with Banner and Degree Works is highly desired.
