Job Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee management operations for all transportation, shipping, and sortation functions at the Distribution Center. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

-Coordinate all store delivery functions performed by the Distribution Center (DC) including the notification of stores on daily delivery details; creation of store delivery and holiday schedules, creation of efficient routes in accordance with store delivery restrictions; and the investigation and resolution of store delivery issues.

-Manage all aspects of the private fleet driver work force directly and indirectly through subordinate supervisory personnel including work assignments, vehicle and work place safety, hiring, discipline, termination, etc.

-Manage and coordinate all loading dock and sortation activities at the Distribution Center directly and indirectly through subordinate supervisory personnel including work assignments, work place safety, hiring, discipline, termination, etc.

-Manage and give direction to vendors who provide dedicated and temporary transportation services to the distribution center.

-Manage and oversee transportation equipment vendors who lease delivery equipment and provide service to equipment for the distribution center's fleet operations.

-Ensure fleet compliance with all applicable Department of Transportation, Federal, State, and Local regulations.

-Create distribution facility pick and sortation schedules and ensure that the schedules are entered in a timely manner into the Rite Aid Host System.

-Continue to improve the DC's shipping and transportation business processes to reduce costs and improve service. Track and work to continually improve DC KPI metrics including on-time delivery performance, trailer utilization, store unload rates, etc.

-Assist in the budget creation and tracking process for freight costs at the Distribution Center.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position directly supervises subordinate supervisory and/or non-supervisory personnel and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.

Experience / Requirements:

The following qualities are required:

-Minimum age of 18 years old to operate machinery and travel for business.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS

This position requires a valid driver's license for daytime travel between various Rite Aid facilities.

Education:

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Logistics, plus two (2) years' experience in Transportation or Fleet Operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
