MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Basic Function - Monitor designated streets, lots, garages, other public areas and/or an entire campus to ensure compliance with parking policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide customer service by answering questions regarding directions, events, building locations and parking policies.

Issue citations and warnings for non-compliance with a computerized hand held computer or manual tickets. Impound, boot or relocate vehicles as directed.

This position requires the ability to work alone and therefore must exercise proper judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with people.

Assist maintenance staff with duties related to parking equipment and facility upkeep and maintenance. This includes but is not limited to: inspecting and assessing lots for maintenance issues, painting, cleaning and repairing parking meters and pay and display machines, installing signs, sign posts and meter posts.

Assist in the collection and security of all monies received through parking meters, multi-space machines , pay on foot technology and any other means of collecting parking revenues and fees.

Assist event staff with activities related to parking for events. This includes but is not limited to: setting up for events, traffic control, receipt of payment for parking, and lot usage control.

Assist office staff with activities related to permit sales during peak seasons. This includes but is not limited to data entry, collating mailings, providing frontline customer service.

Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualification Requirements: The personnel selected for parking enforcement officer positions must have certain traits and abilities that enable them to achieve expected levels of performance. Some of the most important competencies are exercising sound independent judgment and maintaining a high level of customer service. Other areas include:

Knowledge of geography of the area they are enforcing

Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions

Ability to use a hand held computer

Ability to operate a motorized vehicle or bicycle

Ability to understand and apply parking regulations

Ability to interact with others in a courteous and tactful manner

Ability to walk for extended periods of time

Ability to work in all weather conditions

Must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire

Availability to Work: Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on a location's hiring needs. If applicable, availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift and/or week-ends may be required.

License Requirement: The individual will only be required to have and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license, with a current address and acceptable driving record, if the individual is expected to be able to drive a company vehicle or drive on company business.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and listen. Employees are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including snow storms, and extreme heat.

Position Title: Parking Enforcement Officer

Who we are: SP+ Corporation is a nationwide Parking Management company. Our former name was Standard Parking. We are contracted to manage the Parking Facilities for the University of Colorado at the Anschutz Medical Campus (the Client). UCAMC shares the campus with the University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital Colorado and soon a VA Hospital.

Type of work: Perform Parking Enforcement and Customer Assistance actions. No experience in Parking Enforcement required.

Work Location: University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, 13001 E. 17th Place, Aurora, CO 80045 (near I225 and Colfax)

Work Hours: Monday-Friday 10:30am-7:00pm (1/2 hour meal break); occasional extra hours in the morning, evening and weekend for events. Occasional shifts of 6:00am-2:30pm and 10:30am-7:00pm to cover vacations/illness, etc. Rare need for even earlier start and/or end times due to operational needs. Additional Overtime hours available at other SP+ locations in the Denver Metro area for Special Events or operational needs.

Work Conditions: This is a primarily outdoor position in a facility that operates 24/7/365 in all weather conditions. You may be on your feet for extended periods of time (hours) such as during Traffic Directing and may need to walk extensively throughout campus for operational needs. You will work in and around potentially dangerous traffic situations. Indoor work would be the preparation of reports/planning future operations and general management activities.

Daily Duties include but not limited to:

Assist in the collection and security of all monies received through parking meters and PayStations and any other means of collecting parking revenues and fees.

Assist fellow Officers with activities related to parking for events.

Promote parking compliance by educating customers in a manner that results in compliance and understanding of campus parking regulations.

Observe and analyze the need for directional signage and report findings.

Other related duties as assigned.

Description of Parking Facilities: 12 surface lots for Visitor Parking; 7 surface lots for Permit Parking for students, staff and faculty; and one garage for both Permit Holders and Visitors. Total number of parking stalls is 5500+. One lot is off campus at the former campus at 9th and Colorado. We enforce the parking rules (issue citations); manage parking during events (traffic directing); provide assistance to Visitors and University staff, faculty and students as needed such as locating the destination building, jump starts and lockouts (customer service); collect and process revenue from 15 PayStations and assist the Equipment Vendors in maintaining the Parking equipment (operations management); maintain the area around the equipment (cleaning) and any other tasks directed by the Client.

Requirements: Good driving record/valid driver's license: You will be driving company vehicles: SUV, pickup truck and ATV.

Ability to lift 50lbs: You will be applying Ice Melt around PayStations and shoveling snow/clearing ice to clear a pathway to/from parking lots and PayStations. Assist University staff as needed for extreme snow/ice conditions.

Superior English writing/speaking/hearing skills: You will be interacting with the public constantly; preparing reports; answering phone. Speaking and understanding Spanish is a plus as are other languages.

Proficient with email and computer/Internet. You will be preparing and submitting reports using Microsoft Outlook, Google Gmail, Microsoft Excel and other software; communicating with customers, the Client and company staff; and accessing websites to gather Parking Facility information.

Operate: handheld (cellphone based) Enforcement devices to issue citations, general office equipment (calculator, office phone), basic hand tools (screwdriver, vise grip, etc), cleaning equipment (shop vac, broom, spray bottle).

18+ years old High School graduate or equivalent is the minimum; prefer an Associate's degree or at least some college course work/pursuing a degree. Bachelor's degree a plus.

Reliable transportation.

Schedule Flexibility. You may be required on short notice to change your work time due to other staff not being able to meet their scheduled shift.

Pay and Benefits: Starting pay is $9.50 per hour. You will be eligible for Overtime.

Eligible for Health/Dental/Vision Insurance 60 days after hire.

401k available after hire.

$10,000.00 Life and Accidental Death & Disability insurance paid by the company.

Other notes: No travel out of town. Uniform provided to include inclement weather gear (rain and snow) except shoes/boots and gloves. On occasion, due to operational needs, you may be asked or given the option of driving your personal vehicle and would be paid mileage reimbursement each month.
