General Summary:
Lead a team of Over the Road Drivers with varying levels of experience and education. Responsible for people and team development, safety, quality, cost and service. Develops team to solve routine operational issues, Motivates team to achieve established performance targets. Organizes and facilitates team meetings using continuous improvement processes. Initiates and coaches the implementation of continuous improvement projects. Administers policies and procedures. May conduct presentations and formal training.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Over the Road Drivers, and administrative staff. Work closely with Traffic Department Manager in running the Traffic Center
Manage overall traffic center performance with focus on smart P&L decisions
Drive Traffic Center culture
Perform mode selection analysis on the use of common carrier or internal fleet.
Ensure that Traffic team is developed and accountable for achieving individual, team and business unit goals
Work closely with upstream suppliers and downstream internal customers to deliver expected results
Effective change leadership - drive business changes while minimizing people impact
Demonstrate strong leadership behaviors and skills
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience and 2-3 years experience leading and developing others
Demonstrated people and leadership skills with a record of achieving positive business results
Knowledge of DOT regulations
Strong track record of leading and developing teams
Ability to work in a fast paced, high intensity environment, unstructured environment
Ability to create a safe working environment, ensuring that all members are knowledgeable of good safety practices and procedures
Excellent computer skills using Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Ability to give/receive constructive feedback
Team based approach to decision making
Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills
Ability to work off-shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime
