GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provides basic care and related non-professional tasks for the personal and comfort needs of the patient. Works under the direction/supervision of a Registered Nurse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, TRAINING EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent. Certification as a CNA, EMT-Basic, or completion of a Medical Assistant program. Or current PCT working within Trinity Medical Center that was grandfathered into the PCT position title.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITITES SKILLS: Must be aware of responsibilities of providing physical care to infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with patients and staff and maintain good patient and public communication. Must be able to set priorities and react rationally to situations in patient care settings.
LICENSES, REGISTRATION CERTIFICATIONS: CPR Certification required. Current certification/registration as a CNA, EMT, or MA and listed on a healthcare registry. Or experience as a PCT working within Trinity Medical Center that were grandfathered into the PCT position title.
A person currently licensed as an EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-P, may only practice as an EMT or utilize his or her EMT license in pre-hospital or inter-hospital emergency care settings or non-emergency medical transport situations, under the written or verbal direction or the EMS Medical Director. This does not, however, prohibit an EMT-B, EMT-I, or EMT-P from seeking the credentials to work in an emergency department or other health care setting within the hospital under the jurisdiction of that employer. (Section 3.55(b) of the EMS act)
