Job Details:
Coordinates activities associated with the facilitation of Hospital Transfers, Direct Admissions, and Bed Management in support of patient logistics for the Cleveland Clinic Health System.Accepts and processes internal and external Hospital Transfers and Direct Admission requests in accordance with standard operating procedures using standard and exception scripting, recorded conference calls, electronic documents, and specialized software applications. Conducts activities to support enterprise bed management including initiation of inpatient reservations, physician revisions, and service/status updates. Identifies need for and implements appropriate protocols for Critical Care Transport for Hospital Transfers in accordance with patient diagnosis and location; facilitates BLS and ALS transport as needed. Communicates admission and transfer details to sending and receiving sites, emergency departments, transport companies, financial counselors, and others as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Medical Terminology required; must possess proficient computer skills for data entry (35 WPM) and on-screen telecommunications.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: None
COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Must be assertive, highly organized, detail oriented and able to function at a high level during stressful acute transfer cases requiring deployment of triage algorithms. Must were a headset.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in a customer service based environment preferred. Previous experience as EMT, LPN, call center, patient registration, unit coordinator or other health care support role preferred. Working knowledge of EPIC/ ADT/ Forefront / ShoreTel applications a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged sitting and computer work. Dexterity needed with computer and keyboard. Ability to see to use dual monitors.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
