Florida Hospital Altamonte seeks to hire a Full Time Patient Transporter who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Located north of Orlando in the community of Altamonte Springs, our facility is consistently named "Best Hospital" for overall quality, reputation, doctors and nurses by local residents. As the largest satellite campus within the Florida Hospital system, Florida Hospital Altamonte has been providing state-of-the-art healthcare to the community since 1973. The recently expanded 377-bed hospital cares for more than 168,000 patients a year. Department Profile
The Transportation Team at Altamonte Springs enhances the patient and guest experience by providing safe and courteous transport to and from different destinations within our campus. The transportation team also assists nursing units and other clinical areas in the efficient transport of materials.
Work Hours/Shifts
Full Time (8:00a-- 4:30pm Monday through Friday & Every Other Weekend)
Job Summary
As a Patient Transporter with Florida Hospital Altamonte Springs Transportation department you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a faith-based atmosphere. Personally facilitates the movement of patients or patients related items, in the most expeditious, professional, and customer service oriented manner possible, using the most expedient method at your disposal. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience Required
* People Skills: Ability to understand customers' needs and respond to them in a pro-active, courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
* Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, speak appropriately in English using good diction, and respond to peoples needs in a pleasant and courteous manner as perceived by the customer, and as appropriate to adolescents, adult and geriatric patients.
* Technical Skills: Ability to operate stretchers, beds, and wheelchairs.
* CPR Certification (preferred)
* Customer service experience (preferred)
Job Responsibilities
* Demonstrates through behavior Florida Hospital's Core Values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork as outlined in the organization's Performance Excellence Program
* Personally facilitates the safe, efficient, and expedited movement of patients from area to area via stretchers, wheelchairs, beds and cribs.
* Personally facilitates the efficient and expedited movement of patient related items such as belongings, paperwork, labs and equipment.
* Assists in the safe transfers of customers (such as: from bed to stretcher or wheelchair).
* Accurately records the transport and reports the necessary information by correctly using the TeamChimes phone system.
* Appropriately utilizes PPE, and follows HIPPA, OSHA, and Florida Hospital's Policies and Procedures.
* When requested, carries non-narcotic medication from the Pharmacy or Radiology to the designated care area. The transporter will hand the medication to the appropriate care giver.
* Ensures that hallways are maintained clear of clutter related to wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, mattresses, transportation carts and cribs by moving equipment not in use to designated equipment storage areas.
* Maintains competencies related to annual completion of BARE Facts, NPSG's, PPD's, and CPR refresher course.
* Performs other duties as required and keeps a safe environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
