Corporate Communications/Public Relations:
SUMMARY: The Corporate Communications Interns will develop content for the Universal Orlando blog and YouTube channel as well as work hand-in-hand with internal owned media channels, including Social Media, CRM and web. The Intern will also assist with day-to-day information distribution, media pitching, coverage tracking, media management, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for major tactics
- Assist with building content plans for special projects and annual events
- Assist with implementing tactics and event planning
- Assist with regular content creation for UOR blog and social channels
- Assist in video production
- Track media coverage sentiment and provide weekly summary reports to management
- Develop various press materials including press releases and photo captions
- Regularly update media content list(s)
- Assist media wanting to experience Universal Orlando Resort (complimentary tickets, tours, etc.) and logging relevant information related to their visit(s)
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Social Media
SUMMARY: The Social Media Intern will help support the Universal Orlando Social Media team as an integral part of the Social Media Engagement Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform social media related administrative and clerical duties including but not limited to, correspondence, research, tracking and reporting
- Coordinate department specific needs including scheduling, collateral, campaign tools, and preparation for meetings
- Assist with social media campaigns and projects including but not limited to providing content, meeting with clients, communicating, with internal partners, and fulfilling requests
- Support day-to-day social content brainstorms, channel management, and publishing
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution
- Current class standing of Sophomore or above
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above (official transcripts available upon request)
- Must have a valid US driver's license
- Consistent attendance is a job requirement
- Approximate dates of this internship are from May 2016 – August 2016
- Availability requirement typically includes 24-40 hours per week; Monday through Friday (may include some weekends)
- Preferred Majors Include: Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, and Advertising
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have high level of writing skills, passion for digital marketing and be active on social media
- WordPress and Workamajig experience is a plus
- Must have ability to interact with media contacts in person, by phone or by email
- Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Superior written & verbal communication skills
- Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams
- Prior internship experience is preferred
